    Summer Leadership 2019-2020

Welcome back to another innovative and impactful school year.

August 5, 2019, marks the beginning of what is sure to be the best school year yet in DeKalb County. Today, you join students and staff members across 137 schools and facilities in renewing your commitment to rigorous instruction and academic excellence. I also join you in committing to this important mission.

As we do so, we should keep in mind that every success —no matter how large or small—is powerful. Whether it be a child ’s first full day in Kindergarten, a strong collaboration between colleagues, or the start of that final year in high school for a rising senior —these moments have the power to inspire our community.

These stories, both minute and colossal, are what make education the most important facet of society. Collectively, we are poised to harness this power during the 2019-2020 school year. Our students are also poised to harness this power, pursuing new dreams and reaching new horizons. As we have proven in past years, they have soared to new heights and have proven there is no limit to what they can and will achieve.

Let’s continue to prove them right.

Let’s build upon yesterday ’s successes together. Let ’s continue to harness this power —and create new, innovative ways to use that power—each and every day. Let’s continue to support our children —and one another—for the betterment of DeKalb County, and its future.

Good luck, and have a wonderful 2019-2020 school year!

    Regards,

Dr. R. Stephen Green, Superintendent/CEO of DeKalb County School District
